Water Meters -- Coming to your residence in July

Water Meters are now being installed for single-family homes in Bellingham (unless you already had one installed during the pilot project several years ago).  Also, businesses & multi-family residences are already metered.

The PNA will hold an additional meeting in June to provide further information for you.  Also, the City will soon be sending you a letter and page of "Frequently Asked Questions and Answers" document in the mail.  Metering crews will be in the Puget neighborhood starting meter assembly box installations in mid-July.
Info from the City:
City of Bellingham water crews will be in your neighborhood installing water meter assembly boxes and meters beginning June 2013. Your utility bill will be converted to metered water rates in 2014.
Washington State laws require the City to install meters for all unmetered water customers by 2017. City crews are working to meet this state mandate, which affects you and 15,000 other single-family residential water customers.
  • You will not be billed for metering equipment or installation.
  • To estimate how much water you use, visit www.cob.org/utilities and try out our “estimated water consumption calculator."

Public Works staff will be at the next Puget Neighborhood meeting on Tuesday, June 18, at 7 p.m. at the Community Room of Moles Funeral Home (corner of Lakeway & Woburn) to present a brief overview of the water metering program and answer questions.
