"Ambling University Development Group has submitted a variance request from Bellingham Municipal Code 20.38.050 B.4 (a) to increase the 35-foot height requirement for structures located within 200 feet of the proposal's site plan boundary adjacent to residential single zoned land.
This variance request is associated with a proposed 527-bed boarding/rooming house. The applicant has deferred submittal of the land use permits required to obtain approval for this land use until after a decision for the variance is granted. The permits that will be required for land use enablement include a Planned Permit, Multifamily Design Review, and a Critical Area permit (if impacts are proposed to the on-site wetland buffer and/or steep slopes).These permits are administratively approved with the final decision by the Director of Planning and Community Development Department. "
